Ear Wax Removal

Ear wax, also known as cerumen, is naturally produced in the ear. Its purpose is to help keep dirt and debris from going further into the ear canal. It is also one of the most common causes of hearing loss, can cause damage to a hearing aid and/or cause the hearing aid to feedback. We do not recommend anyone attempt to remove wax by themselves. If you use a Q-tip you risk pushing wax further in and making it impacted. Earmolds and hearing aids prevent wax from being able to come out naturally. Therefore, a hearing aid user should have a healthcare professional check for wax and remove it when necessary.
